Dancing On Ice’s final is airing on Sunday night, with Perri Kiely, Joe Swash, and Libby Clegg all competing to be crowned 2020 champion.
And not only will they be taking to the ice with one more night’s worth of spectacular routines, but many of this year’s skating celebrities will also be back for one final group routine.
However one of their number – Caprice Bourret – will be noticeably absent from the line-up, following her hasty exit from the show earlier in the series.
Just why isn’t she at the final – and what happened between her and skating partner Hamish Gaman?
Why isn’t Caprice Bourret at the Dancing on Ice final?
Caprice made an early departure from the series after ‘parting ways’ from Hamish Gaman back in January.
Despite rumours that she had been ‘banned’ from taking part in the final, a source has said that her absence from the show is her choice, and had nothing to do with ITV.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk a source confirmed: ‘Caprice left the series some weeks ago. Caprice’s representatives clearly stated at the time of her departure that she was no longer participating in Dancing On Ice.
‘There have been no discussions of bans or warnings from series producers because her taking part in the show simply ended at that point. Suggestions that any such conversations took place are complete nonsense.’
A source from Caprice’s team said: ‘This is yet another leaked story from Dancing on Ice. Caprice was never planning on going to the finals after she had quit. She does not want any affiliation with Dancing on Ice after what has happened.’
Caprice is up for a prestigious business award next week for her continued work in entrepreneurship and encouraging women in business.’
What happened between Caprice and Hamish Gaman?
Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby announced on the show back in January that Caprice and Hamish had ‘parted ways’ just one week after their skating debut.
‘Unfortunately, Caprice and Hamish have parted ways and will not be skating this week,’ Holly said. ‘As you saw in our opening number, Hamish remains one of the members of our professional team and we hope to have Caprice back on the ice next week.’
Although Caprice did return the following week with new skating partner Oscar Peter, she later quit the series, with her rep confirming at the time that she had left to focus on her mental health and her family.
‘It’s true that Caprice is no longer participating in Dancing On Ice,’ Caprice’s rep told Metro.co.uk at the time. ‘It’s been a hard few months and she’s had to keep silent for contractual reasons.
‘Her mental wellbeing has been affected over the last two months and recent stories leaked to the press are not only salacious but extremely hurtful. Now she’s taking some time to recover and look after herself and her family.’
There had been reports at the time that Caprice and Hamish’s relationship had become ‘unworkable’, with a source telling The Sun: ‘Caprice’s relationship with Hamish was harmonious at the start but as time went on they became more strained. ‘She felt he was pushing her too hard in training and Caprice started to struggle.’
A source later denied these claims to MailOnline, saying: ‘The “pushing her too hard” comment is untrue. She’s actually always wanted more hours on the ice and no days off.
The Dancing On Ice final is on Sunday night on ITV at 6pm.
