Wayne Rooney’s move to US is ‘devastating’ to Coleen, says Danielle Lloyd | The Sun

COLEEN Rooney will "really miss" husband Wayne and find it "devastating" after the footie ace signed a contract which will see him move to America.

The Manchester United icon, 36, has penned a deal lasting until the end of 2023 to manage Washington-based DC United, with the option of another 12 months.

The contract is believed to contain what has been dubbed a "Coleen release clause" yet this won't make it any easier on the mum of four, according to her pal Danielle Lloyd.

Coleen, also 36, will remain in the UK and former model Danielle, also a mum, has opened up on what she calls the "mad situation."

Danielle told Closer Magazine: "It will be hard on Coleen.

"It's a bit of a mad situation but I understand why she is staying in the UK.

"She didn't enjoy America and found it hard.

"It's also difficult to constantly uproot your life – she's got four boys and you can't just keep moving them around.

"So I don't blame her for wanting to stay."

Wayne recently confirmed he would not be joined in the States by Coleen, 36, and their four children – Kai, 12, Cass, four, Klay, nine, and Kit, six.

The entire family moved out when Rooney played for DC United between 2018 and 2020, but Coleen struggled to settle away from home.

In her column, Danielle added of her pal: "She's an amazing mum but nevertheless it will be hard on her doing everything on her own and not having the support of a partner there.

"It can be devastating being away from your partner for a period of time, and she'll really miss him."

Sources claim there is a "Coleen release clause" in Wayne's contract that would see him allowed to leave sooner, according to the Mirror.

He is reportedly free to head back to the UK and rejoin his family if a Premier League club comes in for him.

The Sun exclusively revealed that Rooney and Coleen were "ocean's apart" as the England icon jetted across the pond to take up his new job as boss of DC United.

That's after Coleen had laid bare the tensions in their marriage and how she was so homesick living in America that she often cried herself to sleep.

Rooney though was eager for the challenge, regardless of whether he would be joined by Coleen and their kids.

He confirmed: "I think it was well documented that my wife had a tough time in looking after four children away from home. She’d never been away from home. It was tough.
