Tiger King season two has just landed on Netflix and the quirky docuseries has left Joe Exotic fans feeling excited. They were thrilled to hear the lockdown series had been renewed and the new season features some new contributors. One of them is Joe’s ex-fiancée Kimberly Craft, who opened up about their relationship.

Who is Kimberly Craft in Tiger King?

Joe Exotic is still serving his 22-year prison sentence after a federal jury found him guilty on numerous counts.

He was found guilty of two counts of hiring someone to murder Carole Baskin in Florida, eight counts of violating the Lacey Act by falsifying wildlife records, and nine counts of violating the Endangered Species Act by killing five tigers and for selling tigers across state lines.

In his absence, those who knew him best have spoken out about their relationships with the eccentric zookeeper.

The first episode of season two introduces Kimberly Craft, with whom Joe formed one of his first romantic relationships.

At the time, he had been serving as the youngest Chief of Police in Texas at just 19-years-old.

Not long after, Joe came out as gay and his fiancée had been there to help him through the emotional struggle.

In the new series, she said: “He had a magnet that said ‘police’ that he put on the side of his squad car.

“He was very good looking and he ended up asking me out on a date, so we started dating.

“Joe and I dated for quite a while, I was at a point in my life where I had two children and no husband.

“My ex-husband beat me on a regular basis – Joe was the one who got the warrant for his arrest.”

She went on to explain how Joe had asked her to marry him at Christmas and introduced her to his family as his fiancée.

However, she started to hear from others that Joe had been visiting gay bars in the evenings.

She said: “It really made me feel special that Joe was a gentleman and wanted to wait to have sex.

“I will admit, I’m naive OK, so I guess when someone says something like that you really want to believe it.

“He would always come home late and some nights it was as if he had been drinking.”

“I found out later he was stripping for the mayor and all her friends. Which later in life I find kind of hilarious.

“It was pretty funny, but I never looked at the bigger picture with Joe.

“Everybody had been telling me he was gay, I didn’t want to believe it but he was.

“I found out that he was going to gay bars, after I found out he and I broke off the engagement.

“But any time he had problems, he would turn to me to help him get through it.”

In the same episode, Joe is heard in a phone interview explaining his relationship with Kimberly.

He said: “I was dating the fire chief’s daughter and lived with her for several years. Never had sex one time.”

Explaining the ‘stripping’, he said he put on the show to raise money for a new fire truck.

Joe was 19 when he came out, and his former colleagues at the police opened up about the way he was treated as a result.

He confided in Kimberly as he struggled with his mental health after coming out.
