Television presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are "not afraid to start a TV war" if bosses decide to replace them on This Morning.
The husband and wife telly duo could follow in the footsteps of Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan by planning their own talk show on a rival channel if they are given the boot by ITV producers.
Eamonn and Ruth, both 60, are said to feel "angry" that they could no longer by hosting the Friday edition of This Morning in favour of Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.
X Factor host Dermot, 47, and former Big Brother contestant Alison, 45, wowed fans when they teamed up together to present the programme over the summer holidays.
Eamonn and Ruth, who have presented This Morning together for 14 years, are thought to have a plan up their sleeve if they are handed their notice by This Morning bosses.
A source told Heat: "They are now planning their own TV talk show to rival This Morning, hopefully on the BBC or Channel 4.
"They’ve had lots of offers from TV companies who are keen to snap them up, and neither of them are afraid to start a TV war, just like Richard and Judy did when they went to Channel 4."
"Still, they’re really angry with how they have been treated."
However, an insider close to Ruth and Eamonn told new! magazine that the pair are still hoping they can win back their slot due to fan support.
They told the publication" "There's been no confirmation of the changes, so Ruth and Eamonn are both holding on to the hope they could win back their slot."
"They hope the public outcry will change the bosses’ minds to that they could do a Monday show or the Wednesday and then Alison and Dermot could do the Friday."
In spite of the rumour mill running into overdrive, ITV have since shut down on-going speculation that Eamonn and Ruth are leaving the programme.
A spokesperson for This Morning told Daily Star Online: "“We have a stellar presenting line-up on This Morning in Holly and Phillip and Eamonn and Ruth.
"Any additions to this line up will be announced in due course."
Eamonn and Ruth are expected to return to our screens on Friday morning to present the ITV daytime favourite.
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
