The Voice Kids final kicked off on an awkward note after contestant Gracie-Jayne Fitzgerald suffered a false start due to technical issues.
The 12-year-old singer, who is coached by Pixie Lott, delivered the first performance of the night with a stunning rendition of Nina Simone’s Feeling Good.
As host Emma Willis introduced the performance, however, Gracie-Jayne couldn’t hear the music signalling her to start due to a technical fault, leaving an awkward moment of silence as everyone waited for her to begin.
Emma returned to the stage soon afterwards, saying: ‘Hi, so during live shows we have technical difficulties. That is what is happening right now and I think Gracie-Jayne couldn’t hear the music.
‘So when the band is ready, we’re going to get going.’
Gracie-Jayne didn’t let the moment throw her though, delivering a performance which impressed the judges.
After the performance, Emma said: ‘You are an absolute professional. A false start. That’s the first that’s ever happened to me, I was like, “What do I do?!”
‘And you handled it amazingly so well done.’
The final saw contestants Lil Shan Shan, 11, Keira Laver, 9, Sam Wilkinson, 13, and Gracie-Jayne Fitzgerald, 12, compete for the title and attempt to impress judges Danny Jones, Jessie J, Pixie Lott, and Will.i.am.
All four contestants perform a duet with their respective coach, along with delivering their own solo performance.
