The Book of Boba Fett is part of the ever-expanding Star Wars franchise and it will air on Disney+ soon. The series features the title character and takes place alongside another spin-off – Ahsoka. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about the release date, cast, trailer and more.

When is The Book of Boba Fett out?

News of the new series was announced shortly after the second season of The Mandalorian finished airing in December 2020.

Filming had already begun when the news came to light and it concluded in June 2021.

The announcement came in a post-credit scene and fans had wondered whether this would replace the third season of The Mandalorian.

The premiere will air on December 29, providing the perfect end of the year for Star Wars fans.

At this moment in time the amount of episodes has not been revealed, but according to rumours, it is expected to feature nine weekly instalments.

Who is in the cast of The Book of Boba Fett?

Temuera Morrison will be reprising his role as the title character for the spin-off series.

The Mandalorian’s Ming-Na Wen will also be returning as Fennec Shand, and the pair will aim to take over the territory once dominated by Jabba the Hutt.

Jennifer Beals will be portraying a Twi’lek and not much is known about the character at the moment.

The full cast list for the live-action series is yet to be revealed so more surprises are on the way.

Morrison is on Instagram and he shared a poster for the series, with one fan adding: “SO hype for this. Absolute legend you are.” [Sic]

Is there a trailer for The Book of Boba Fett?

Yes, on November 1 Disney Plus released an official trailer for the spin-off and it show’s the title character explaining how he is not a bounty hunter.

He also explains to fellow bounty hunters how he aims to rule Jabba’s empire with respect, rather than fear.

Boba is heard saying: “I’m here to make a proposal that’s mutually beneficial.

“Why speak of conflict when co-operation can make us all rich.”

The live-action series will explore one of the many underworlds within the Star Wars universe.

What is The Book of Boba Fett about?

The spin-off series will follow the legendary bounty hunter and mercenary Fennec Shand as they return to Tatooine.

Here they intend to take the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.

For fans of The Mandalorian, this series is not linked to the ‘Baby Yoda’ tale and is a standalone story.

Viewers took to YouTube to share their thoughts on the trailer, with DatKakashii saying: “This is long overdue for Temuera.

“Glad my boy is finally getting a helluva lot more screen time/attention. He deserves it. His voice is addicting! Hopefully we get some Jango flashback scenes too.” [Sic]

Alex Chambers said: “This is gonna be electrifying on all cylinders; the music, the acting, the set prices, the style and the lore that’ll shine through. Can’t wait!!!”

Senor Studly added: “This looks very promising. I really hope they nail the writing. Underworld politics sounds like potential for a great show.”

Sabine Wren concluded: “I’ve been a fan of Boba Fett since my childhood. He was my favourite Star Wars character since 1985. Go figure. And now I’m going to watch his own series. I love my life. What a moment to be alive.”

It was not until a couple of weeks into filming that members of the cast and crew discovered they were making The Book of Boba Fett rather than The Mandalorian season three.

The Book of Boba Fett airs on Disney Plus on December 29.
