Sean Beckett (played by Josh Randall) has been falling down a slippery slope this season of Station 19 as he frequently retreats into his office to enjoy a hidden bottle of booze. The popular Grey’s Anatomy spin-off has been counting down the weeks until he sees the fatal consequences of his actions, and fans finally saw the tragic outcome on this week’s episode of the hit ABC drama.

Fans have demanded Beckett to be fired after his actions led to the death of Lieutenant Cooper (Johnny Wactor) in the latest episode of Station 19.

In episode 10, Even Better Than the Real Thing, the chauvinistic new Fire Captain held a training day for Station 88 which ended in disaster.

All was going well until the final drill of the day, which ended in a catastrophic explosion in what should have been a controlled environment.

Cooper, one of Beckett’s former probies, was sadly caught in the blast and succumbed to his injuries.

Almost everyone turned their suspicions on Beckett, most notably Theo Ruiz (Carlos Miranda), who has been critical of the new captain from the start.

Once the tragic twist had been revealed, Station 19 fans also turned on the firehouse’s new boss and insisted he should be axed next week.

On Twitter, @TB_sprout said: “Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) should be the captain.

“Beckett has gotten away with so much. A firefighter passed out from over exertion while on shift and he’s the captain!”

“How do you fire Maya DeLuca-Bishop (Danielle Savre) over saving a life and breaking protocol but Beckett does it all the time and gets people killed, [yet he] keeps his job?”

@the_el_zy tweeted: “Someone go take Beckett’s water bottle for evidence already and fire him.”

Tony Mercauto exclaimed: “I hope they catch Beckett and fire him!!”

“Great episode and I think Beckett is probably on his way out,” Tyler Sarff speculated.

@_ayeeeeitsManda added: “And down goes Beckett. Maybe now it might be Andy’s time to be captain!”

While frustrated fan @stace_ wrote: “This Beckett storyline has not progressed in almost two years. Enough already.”

Other fans are also keen for Beckett to go simply because his storyline has been dragged out across the latest two seasons.

Newcomer Randall was initially introduced in season five as a recurring star before being upped to part of the main cast for season six.

He has already made several mistakes during his stint on the team, and caught flak from Robert Sullivan (Boris Kodjoe) and Natasha Ross (Merle Dandridge) when they realised he was drinking on the job.

However, after less than two seasons on the hit drama, Beckett’s time as captain could already be coming to an end.

Both Theo and Vic Hughes (Barrett Doss) were furious with the captain after Cooper’s death, and next week the firefighters will take matters into their own hands to ensure he suffers the consequences.

Station 19 season 6 continues Thursdays on ABC in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
