Spoilers: Passion for Linda and Max as they kiss in EastEnders

Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) was left in complete and utter shock in EastEnders tonight (October 2) after Max Branning (Jake Wood) kissed her — and she didn’t stop him.

Linda was incredibly excited about the prospect of getting out with her friends for the first time since lockdown, but Mick (Danny Dyer) voiced his concerns, as he was worried about her being surrounded by alcohol.

Conflict ensued as a result, as the former Queen Vic landlady reiterated that she should be allowed to go out whenever she wants.

However, Mick was evidently right to have such concerns, as watching Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Max consume alcohol proved incredibly difficult for Linda.

As she returned to the bar to fetch the next round, she held Max’s alcoholic beverage in one hand, and her own non-alcoholic equivalent in the other.

Decisions, decisions.

After much deliberation, she took a sip of the alcoholic drink, and sighed.

‘Just one more,’ she evidently thought.

However, after taking a second, longer swig, she realised that Max had caught her in the act.

Linda broke down and berated herself for her actions — and revealed that she fears what Ollie will think of his mum once he’s older. Max didn’t judge, and was sympathetic to her struggles.

As the night progressed, he told her to stop blaming herself, and in a moment of madness, he kissed her — and she didn’t pull away.

The realisation soon dawned on Linda, and she put a stop to the snog.

Horror washed over her face.

‘This isn’t real.’ ‘What I have done?’ All possible thoughts that ran through her head, as she uttered: ‘Oh God.’

Linda subsequently hightailed it out of there — much to Max’s dismay — but the bright lights of Turpin Road couldn’t mask her guilt.

Could this be the beginnings of an affair for Linda and Max?

We reckon not, as it’s rather hard to imagine Linda betraying Mick in such a fashion, but this is Walford we’re talking about!
