Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) is determined to get to the bottom of what her son Mick (Danny Dyer) has been going through in EastEnders.
His recent off and snappy behaviour has left both Shirley and Linda (Kellie Bright) worried for him and they can tell that his anxiety is through the roof.
What they don’t know is that he is struggling with the memories of his abusive childhood, which came to the surface when Frankie Lewis (Rose Alying-Ellis) told him that he was her dad.
As she revealed that her mum’s name is Katy, Mick’s whole world crashed around him as he recalled his ‘relationship’ with Katy. It soon emerged that Katy was his care worker when he was 12 and Mick was groomed and abused.
This became too much to bear for Frankie who disappeared, but when she arrives back on the Square after ignoring messages from Mick, he tries to sort things out with her.
Meanwhile, as he tries to restore things with Linda, Mick’s attempt to woo her doesn’t work out and Linda sees how anxious and worried she is.
She takes control and books an appointment with his doctor for a medication review as his anxiety is really getting to him again but Mick is furious that she has done this and lashes out.
Shirley confronts Mick and says she and Linda want to help. A turn of events puts Frankie in the spotlight for Shirley, who demands answers – and Mick is backed into a corner.
Shirley knows something’s wrong and refuses to go anywhere until she knows the truth, forcing Mick to delve into his childhood.
But how much will he tell Shirley – and how will she react?
