It’s been very clear that Gemma has been suffering since the arrival of her quads – and as the pressure mounts on the exhausted mum, it will become more and more evident that she has serious symptoms of post natal depression.
With Gemma having sleepless nights, dark thoughts about harming her own children and fears for Aled over his hearing, she becomes increasingly paranoid but refuses to reach out and accept help.
There will come a stage when Bernie will enforce her help upon her daughter when a dangerous situation unfolds but Gemma can’t bear to admit how she is feeling to Chesney as she fears she is a bad mum.
Bernie can see that Gemma is going through something much more than the normal stresses of motherhood and as her state of mind causes concern, she insists that she sees a doctor.
A source told Metro.co.uk: ‘Gemma has been trying to put on a false pretence that she is managing but with the Frescho deal, Aled’s hearing, the trouble with the other mothers and the huge pressures and responsibilities, she is not coping.
‘She is petrified of being labelled a bad mother and of any harm coming to her babies – she is not sleeping and she is becoming more and more paranoid. But it takes a desperate situation for her to even contemplate that she needs to seek help before something worse happens.
‘And even then, Bernie is going to have a task on her hands persuading Gemma to open up to medical professionals and tackle this head on.’
With Chesney currently in the dark, will he be there for Gemma as her situation spirals out of control? Or are things set to get worse before they get better?
