Fight breaks out in front of a theater in Cuernavaca, Mexico during the first day of presales as people are reportedly upset because they rush to the cinemas to buy tickets, only for sites to crash.
AceShowbiz -The excitement over “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is so high, enough to drive movie geeks to literally fight over the tickets. On Monday, November 3, the first day of presales, fans ended up getting into a brawl in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
According to Spanish newspaper Diario de Morelos (via New York Post), on “Spider Monday” people rushed to the cinemas to buy their tickets, only for sites to crash, causing them to get riled up. The tension was apparently high and fight broke out among fans.
In footage of the incident, men were beaten down by young guys who wanted to get in line for the presales. The disgruntled fans were seen kicking, punching and even wrestling the other guys on the ground in front of a theater.
Luckily, several people standing around were quick to separate them. Others, who were lining up to get their tickets, were seen running away to avoid the brawl.
The presales for “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, which opens on December 17, have indeed broken the record. It marks the biggest Fandago presales since “Avengers: Endgame“, surpassing those for pre-pandemic titles such as “Avengers: Infinity War“, “Spider-Man: Far From Home“, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi“, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker“.
” ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ promises to wrap a bow around 20 years of live-action Spider-Man movies, and anticipation is through the roof with fans anxious to see how Tom Holland‘s ‘Homecoming’ trilogy conclude,” said Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis. “The most anticipated film of the season promises to deliver surprises on every level and December 17 can’t come soon enough.”
Kentucky exhibitor Rick Roman described the situation during presales for “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, “I have not seen anything like this since ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘. Once the tickets went on sale, they went through the roof. I added more screens. Thank you Sony.”
