Second Strictly star quits after Zoe Ball leaves It Takes Two with Ian Waite stepping down after 10 years

A SECOND Strictly star has quit It Takes Two, with Ian Waite joining Zoe Ball in saying goodbye to the show after 10 years.

The professional dancer, 50, had been a key part of the spin-off series for a decade but chose to follow Zoe and leave the show.

Ian, who was adored by fans for Waite’s Warm Up on the show, confirmed he was bowing out with an emotional farewell message on Instagram.

The star, who was partnered up with Zoe during the 2006 series of Strictly, told his followers: "It is with great sadness but also a lot of pride that after 10 years presenting Waites Warm Up on #ItTakesTwo the sister show to @bbcstrictly I will be putting away my wand to focus on my dance fitness brand Fitsteps and also my up and coming tour with Vincent Simone The Ballroom Boys.

"I want to thank all the amazing crew, make up artists, directors, producers, who made it so enjoyable to come in to work."

His shock exit comes after Zoe, 50, announced she was leaving yesterday.

She joined the programme in 2011 after taking over from Claudia Winkleman, who went on to host the main show with Tess Daly.

Rylan Clark-Neal joined the show as her co-host last year.

She said: "As a massive @bbcstrictly fan I have loved spending my Autumn teatimes with the celebrity dancers, the gorgeous & awesome pro dancers, the judges, my girl Vicky Gill, Rylan, Gethin & of course my main man Ian Waite. Time now for some new cha cha challenges.

"I will continue to support the Strictly family on the Breakfast Show & can’t wait to watch the Class Of 2021 from my sofa."

"Huge love & grateful thanks to Tess & Claude & the whole Strictly clan, the ITT fans, my Glam Squad, Eve Winstanley, Alex McLeod, the BBC2 gang, & of course the best telly crew ever. I will miss you all immensely. As Iveta would say “Friends for the life“ xx."

Reigning Strictly champ Oti Mabuse lead the tributes to Zoe leaving.

She said: "@zoetheball we are going to miss you so much! You’ve always been a deep part of the family looking forward to hearing you on the radio."

"Oh @zoetheball!! I looked forward to our chats on that couch more then any other part of the week!" pro Janette Manrara exclaimed. "You really are a diamond of a human being and deserve all of the wonderful things that are coming your way! Although you’ll be missed, it’s not “goodbye”, it’s more of a “see ya around”! Love you!"

Former Strictly pro Kevin Clifton said: "It Takes Two was always my favourite bit. I loved chatting and being silly with u on the sofa. Thank you for being so kind , generous and supportive with all of us. You’re the best."
