Commanding Officer Eric Blackburn (played by Judd Lormand) skipped out on Bravo’s latest mission after receiving a promotion in Seal Team’s season four finale earlier this year. This led many to believe his time on the CBS series had come to an end ahead of its move to Paramount+, but a selection of new stills have confirmed this won’t be the case.

The latest images from the upcoming premiere of SEAL Team has confirmed Eric Blackburn will indeed return after his promotion last season.

During season four, Blackburn shocks the Bravo team when he admits he won’t be joining them on their next mission as he had been made Executive Officer of DEVGRU.

Many viewers assumed this meant recurring guest star Judd Lormand would be absent from the series going ahead.

Thankfully, a fresh batch of screenshots from the show’s next episode has confirmed Lormand will be reprising his role for season five.

CBS have released the first look at the premiere, ‘Trust, But Verify: Part 1’, the first of five episodes airing on the original network before SEAL Team switches to Paramount+.

An official description reads: “Everyone on the team is shocked when they learn a training exercise is really cover for a covert mission to get a weapons expert out of one of the most dangerous countries in the world.”

The images feature the show’s main cast gathering for a tense meeting ahead of the mission.

This includes David Boreanaz as the show’s protagonist Jason Hayes, who doesn’t appear pleased to be receiving the news.

Plus, Lisa Davis (Toni Trucks), Brock Reynolds (Justin Melnick), Clay Spenser (Max Thieriot) and Ray (Neil Brown Jr.) will also all return.

Bravo’s next mission will be their first following the death of Scott Carter aka Full Metal (Scott Foxx) in the devastating closing episode of season four.

Fans will therefore be pleased to know Blackburn will indeed be returning after concerns he could depart the series after his promotion.

However, it’s still unknown whether Judd Lormand will be back for the entire season.

Despite speculation Blackburn could only be back for the season premiere, it’s likely he’ll be appearing in multiple new episodes as Lormand was recently spotted filming the show in LA.

Additionally, the images confirm Sonny (AJ Buckley) will also be back despite considering a move to Texas after becoming a father in the last instalment.

Meanwhile, Jason’s future with Bravo is also in doubt after he started developing trauma-induced headaches.

Finally, his teammate Ray also admitted he was suffering from something similar in SEAL Team’s last outing when he confirmed he had PTSD.

With red flags over much of the team heading into season five, we could still see a number of fallen soldiers by the next finale.

The action-packed drama will only consist of 14 episodes this time round, so viewers should expect the upcoming outing to pack a punch in its shortened run.

SEAL Team has yet to be renewed for a sixth season, but hopefully its new home on Paramount+ can help keep its popularity afloat for years to come.

SEAL Team season 5 premieres Sunday, October 10 on CBS.
