Saved By the Bell’s Mario Lopez looks exactly like AC Slater 30 years on as he films scenes with Elizabeth Berkley – The Sun

SAVED By the Bell star Mario Lopez looked exactly like AC Slater from 30 years ago as he filmed scenes with his co-star Elizabeth Berkley.

Lopez and Berkley have returned to the roles that made them famous and were spotted working on the highly-anticipated return of the classic sitcom in a high school football field.

The grown up Slater could have easily been mistaken for his former high school jock persona, as he wore a white vest and jeans on set of the reboot.

Meanwhile, Jessica Spano (Berkley) looked formal, pointing to a role as a teacher or senior staff member at the school.

NBCUniversal previously confirmed the series will be returning with original cast members Mario and Elizabeth as Slater and Jessie, but Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen were snubbed from the reboot.

They told of their shock at being left out, with Mark-Paul – who played lead character Zack Morris – admitting it was a surprise.

Speaking to Variety, Mark-Paul, 45, said: "Honestly, I was never approached.

"I woke up to the news this morning with a 'huh' kind of response."

It's little wonder Mark-Paul had that reaction considering his character Zack is set to be the Governor of California in the reboot.

The revival is being penned by The Mindy Project's Tracey Wigfield and will find California governor Zack in hot water for closing too many low-income schools.

He sends the affected students to the highest-performing schools in the state — including Bayside High — and "gives the over-privileged Bayside kids a much-needed and hilarious dose of reality."

Asked about the snub, the actor – who currently stars in ABC's Mixed-ish – added: "I kind of understand it…the business side of things, but I had no idea [the revival] was that far along.

"I've always been interested [in a revival]."

Mark-Paul also told TMZ his former co-star Tiffani, 45, hadn't received a call either.

He said: "I believe that Tiffani and I, and the rest of the cast, have not been approached yet."

Saved By The Bell originally aired from 1989 until 1993 and was told from a teen's point of view, examining the highs and lows of six enterprising teenage students, including their romances and relationships.
