Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) promised Lisa Fowler (Lucy Benjamin) that she’d seek revenge on the Mitchell clan in EastEnders, and that’s exactly what she sets about doing in tonight’s episode, as she puts her shocking plan of attack into action.
Mel’s world came crashing down several weeks back when Hunter (Charlie Winter) orchestrated a hostage situation at the Queen Vic and — after gunning down both Ben (Max Bowden) and Keanu (Danny Walters) — lost his life in the chaos. However, her problems persisted last week when all she wanted to do was bury her son — and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) did all he could to make it difficult for her to do so.
A further altercation with Sharon (Letitia Dean) in Friday’s episode antagonised Mel all the more, so she vowed revenge against the Mitchell family.
Tonight, Mel sets about seeking that revenge, and — what with her secretly possessing the knowledge that Keanu is the father of Sharon’s baby and not Phil — she enlists Lisa’s help in getting Keanu’s phone, as she prepares to set a trap for Sharon. Her plan works, and Sharon comes to the realisation that Mel knows the truth — something which leaves her stunned.
Sharon pleads with her business partner, begging her to keep her secret — but, with revenge on her mind, it’s safe to say that this isn’t an option. Instead, Mel proceeds to blackmail the Mitchell matriarch, informing her that she has one day to convince Louise (Tilly Keeper) to move back in with Lisa.
With Sharon used to calling the shots, how will she react to Mel’s blackmail?
Both Letitia and Tamzin were recently spotted filming a chaotic car crash, so it’s safe to assume that tonight’s episode will be the beginning of a long-running narrative, as Mel becomes hell-bent on revenge.
EastEnders continues on Monday 23rd September at 8pm on BBC One.
