This year’s Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on September 19, with the nominations set to be announced in July. Following the stellar second part of season five hitting Netflix last month, could Lucifer bag its first major trophy during this year’s awards season?

Mazikeen star Lesley-Ann Brandt has heaped praise on Lucifer’s exceptional makeup team in the lead-up to next month’s Emmy nominations.

The series has recently launched its ‘For Your Consideration’ campaign in the hopes that the cast and crew of Lucifer will be noticed by the awards for the first time.

Reception for the latest slate of eight episodes, which rounded out the show’s penultimate fifth season in May, have marked it as one of the best instalments in the Netflix drama’s history.

Now fans have devoured Lucifer’s latest outing, Brandt took to Instagram to praise the show’s makeup team, headed by Liz Mendoza Kellogg.

The Lucifer star posted the show’s FYC on her new IG Story, and added: “So proud of you.”

Kellogg also added her own post and showed her appreciation for the rest of the show’s makeup department, Jennifer Gerber and Hedvig Lee.

She wrote: “Makeup on Lesley-Ann Brandt by @makeupbyhedvig Tom Ellis makeup by @prettaybird.

“Beautiful work all season from these two ladies! Please consider Lucifer for best Contemporary Makeup :)) thanks for looking!”

Brandt also took to the comments of the new post and added “Congratulations team”, showing her love with a heart emoji.

Lucifer’s recent social media push has spurred on its chances for finally getting recognised at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards.

As the ceremony will celebrate the best television released between June 2020 until May 31, the entire truncated fifth season will be eligible for nominations.

Unfortunately, previous seasons haven’t had much luck, but it’s hoped the latest offerings from the wildly popular Biblical drama can break the trend.

Fans were thrilled when Lucifer was included among the 133 shows eligible for Best Drama Series on this year’s Emmy nominations ballot.

Although the highly coveted nominations have yet to be announced, Lucifer’s inclusion has further spurred hopes that the Netflix series could finally get the recognition fans believe it deserves.

Special attention has also been paid to leading man Tom Ellis, who took on an impressive dual role as Lucifer and his twin brother Michael in the latest instalment.

On Twitter, one fan maintained: “Tom Ellis deserves not only an Emmy but also an Oscar for his acting performance and his portrayal as Lucifer and Michael.”

“Yeah, I hate Michael too, but Tom played this character just brilliantly.”

Outside of the Emmy Awards, Lucifer has yet to take home any major trophies so far but managed to pick up several nominations over the years.

Ellis was nominated for a Teen Choice Award back in 2016 for Best Breakout Star, but sadly lost out to Matthew Daddario of Shadowhunters fame.

However, he was recently nominated in two categories at this year’s Critics’ Choice Super Awards, suggesting other voters may finally start to pay attention to Netflix’s smash hit fantasy series.

Lucifer Season 5, Part 1 is available to stream on Netflix.
