Love Island recap: Chris torpedoes his own relationship and Molly-Mae is livid

There’s only a week left of Love Island, which means a week until we actually have to go back to thinking of stuff to say in conversations that don’t involve ‘did you see so and so getting pied?’ and ‘that was chaldish’.

But until that dreaded day, we have plenty of WTFness to comb through – particularly after last night’s episode and the return of the Side Bar of Shame.

With the lie detector test canned this year, the headlines challenge was the chance for the most drama, and it delivered in spades.

So if you missed last night’s show, grab yourself a cocktail (or a cuppa, it’s early) and read on…

Chris somehow pies himself

Oh, Chris. Chris, Chris, Chris. It was all going so well. You were knocking the bread puns out of the park. You had Harley laughing on your date. Your hair was looking glorious. Then you went and torpedoed your relationship by claiming you were meant to be with another islander.

During the headlines challenge, Chris was given the headline Love Island fans think ___ is meant to be with ___ – and decided to swill himself and India. And then didn’t understand why Harley would be annoyed about that.

Harley read him the riot act, telling him he was bang out of order and that he wasn’t thinking – correct, tbh – and then strutted off, leaving Chris broken and proclaiming ‘ballsacks’.

And to add insult to injury, he didn’t even get the question right in the challenge.

Molly-Mae is fuming

Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury are the ones to beat for the £50,000 prize, so of course the challenge was going to throw a spanner in the works. Oh, you pesky producers.

During the challenge, Molly was repeatedly swilled, as the headlines revealed that Love Island viewers believed she was ‘bored’ and ‘faking’ her love for Tommy and pretending to be happy for Maura and Curtis.

Speaking in the beach hut about the Tommy headline, Molly said: ‘I’m definitely not bored, and for crying out loud, if people still think I’m faking at this point, then what hope have I got?’, before claiming she was ‘f***ing livid’ about people thinking she wasn’t happy for Maura and Curtis.

Could this derail Molly’s chances of winning the title with her man?

A seed of doubt is planted in Ovie’s mind

After an amazing sequence where Ovie cooked breakfast with India (seriously, give us an hour of that, please), we reckoned this new couple was pretty solid.

A headline suggested India wanted the cash more than Ovie (Picture: ITV)

However, one pesky headline had the basketball player confused, as viewers reckoned India was just with Ovie for the £50,000 prize.

Ovie told the boys: ‘That p***ed me off. Because I’m an athlete, women have come after me for my money, bro. To have money, it’s lonely as f***. You have to question every f***er that comes around you.’

However, India was adamant that is not the case, telling the girls she’s upset that he is upset.

Jordan’s head turns

The biggest bombshell of the night came in the first look teaser for tonight’s episode, which saw Jordan admitting that he has had some good conversations with India, and that he’s looking forward to bumping into her in the villa.

Jordan, mate. There are six days to go in the villa. You are in a solid couple. Do you really hate the idea of £50k that much? Because we’ll gladly take it off your hands.

And the rest:

  • Curtis wants you to know he’s manly. Am I manly though?
  • Ovie is the king of seasoning eggs.
  • Iain Stirling could be out of a job with Chris’s bread puns – ‘a date she will never baguette’ was a personal favourite.
  • Amber reckons her mum fancies Ovie.
  • Anton’s mum is racking up the Instagram followers.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
