Leanne's pain as Sam takes over Oliver's room in Corrie

Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) struggles in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, as Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) stays over in Oliver’s room.

The huge development comes about when Natasha (Rachel Leskovac) asks Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) if he would be up for having his son for a full week.

Nick, naturally, is chuffed to bits.

Sam, meanwhile, arrives at the flat for what he hopes will be a memorable week, and wastes little time in heading to the bedroom, where he puts up his astronomy posters.

Nick lovingly watches him from afar.

Leanne arrives, and Sam shows her the posters he’s put up. Afterwards, Sam is worried that he’s upset her.

Nick makes a suggestion, telling Sam that perhaps they should take the posters down.

Leanne, however, disagrees, instructing Sam to put his posters back on the wall, before reiterating that Oliver’s old bedroom is now his, and she would like him to feel welcome and at home.

Sam, touched, hugs her.

Leanne is still struggling with losing son Oliver, who died last year following a battle with mitochondrial disease.

The soap stalwart has been determined to make Sam feel welcome ever since Nick discovered that he was his son.

One to watch: Monday July 19 at 8:30pm on ITV.
