‘Law & Order: SVU’ is taking on the Jussie Smollett case: Watch the intense trailer

This week’s episode of “Law & Order: SVU” will take on the Jussie Smollett scandal.

In a teaser trailer released the long-running NBC procedural early this week, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her team investigate an alleged attack on a black celebrity whose story is then called into question.

“The NYPD is trying to make me look like a liar,” the Smollett-inspired actor says during a news conference shown in the trailer.

“I’m not letting this go,” Benson says to her team.

Back in January, Smollett made international headlines after claiming to be attacked by two Trump-inspired attackers in Chicago. The incident was immediately called into question, resulting in him being charged with filing a false police report. Charges were suddenly dropped months later, but the City of Chicago is now suing Smollett for $130,000.

The “ripped from the headlines” episode of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” will air on NBC on Thursday, October 10.
