Katie McGlynn and her partner Gorka Marquez are hoping to avoid the dreaded dance-off for a second week in a row after performing an American Smooth to Cruella De Vil by Mel Leven. The former Coronation Street star dressed as Cruella while partner Gorka was a dalmatian. The pair scored 24 points for their routine and were third from the bottom of the leaderboard. Reflecting on their time together so far, Katie admitted she found Strictly Come Dancing with Gorka “weird”.
The actress who currently stars in Hollyoaks admitted being so close to another person after the coronavirus pandemic was a shock for her.
“I have been social distanced from other actors, so it’s just weird having to be close to somebody,” she explained.
“When we did the Tango it just felt very strange having to be that close to somebody and you kind of have to move as one, in sync.”
She added to Mail Online: “So it’s very strange.
“But like I said, all this is brand new to me so I’m just absorbing it all and trying to get better.”
Katie detailed how Gorka has been helping her to train by “writing it all down like a script”.
Gorky will be hoping his techniques will be enough to keep them in the competition.
The father-of-one made it to the Strictly Come Dancing final in 2020 with Maisie Smith.
Unfortunately, after Saturday night’s show, Katie became the favourite to leave Strictly on Sunday evening according to the latest odds from Ladbrokes.
It’s Katie (7/4), Greg Wise (4/1) and Robert Webb (4/1) who find themselves most likely with the bookies to waltz out of the competition this weekend.
However, 8/1 is the price on offer for Adam Peaty or Dan Walker to face the axe, with Judi Love, Sara Davies and Tilly Ramsay all fancied at 12/1 apiece.
Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “It was another tough week for Katie, Greg and Robert, but punters’ money suggests they want the former Coronation Street actress to leave Strictly on Sunday night.”
Meanwhile, after scoring 39 points, the pressure in on John Whaite and Johannes Radebe to win.
The pair are favourite to lift the Glitterball Trophy after their Pirates of the Caribbean inspired Paso Doble.
The bookies immediately slashed the former Bake Off champion’s odds of winning into just 2/1.
Rose Ayling-Ellis sits second in the betting at 9/4, while AJ Odudu is chalked up at 4/1.
Jessica said: “John’s performance with Johannes impressed both judges and punters and he’s a worthy favourite at the top of the Strictly betting.”
The competition is certainly heating up with all of the celebrities keen to avoid the chop so early on.
Nina Wadia and professional dancer Neil Jones were first to leave after failing to score enough points in weeks one and two.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Sunday on BBC One at 7.10pm.
