Kate McCann returns to TalkTV tonight after fainting during Tory debate

TalkTV’s political editor Kate McCann will return to the channel tonight after fainting during the latest Tory leadership debate on Tuesday night – and this time she’ll be sat down.

The presenter fainted halfway through Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak’s head-to-head and was heard collapsing to the floor.

The debate was then terminated while celebrities, including Piers Morgan, sent her well wishes on social media.

TalkTV has confirmed Kate will be back on The News Desk this evening, filling in as planned for regular presenter, Tom Newton Dunn.

Kate also announced the news in a tweet, writing: ‘

‘Well that wasn’t how last night was supposed to end! Thanks everyone for the lovely messages❤️- I’m fine now – and apologies to @trussliz and @RishiSunak for cutting the debate short.

‘Tonight I’ll be unpicking the debate with some new polling from 7pm ( …yes, sat down)’

On tonight’s programme Kate, the host of last night’s The Sun’s Showdown: The Fight for No.10, will analyse the performance of candidates Ms Truss and Mr Sunak.

She will be joined by The Sun’s Kate Ferguson, former Number 10 Deputy Head of Policy Will Tanner and, Deputy Editor of ConservativeHome Henry Hill, to discuss the day’s politics and the fall-out from yesterday’s debate.
