Kate Garraway opened up about the reason behind her absence from Good Morning Britain on today's show, while hosting with Adil Ray.
The 53-year-old explained she had taken Monday and Tuesday off to celebrate her husband Derek Draper's birthday, as he remains in hospital.
Dad-of-two Derek was admitted to hospital with coronavirus back in March, and though he no longer has the virus, it has wreaked havoc on his internal organs.
On this morning's show, Kate revealed the family celebrated his 53rd birthday over video call, branding the day as "challenging".
Though Kate and her children Darey, 14, and Billy, 11, prepared a cake for the occasion, the special day proved a difficult one as Derek continues to battle with his health.
Since her GMB return last month, Kate has been joined by pal Ben Shephard on Monday and Tuesday mornings, presenting the first two instalments of the week.
However, in a hosting shake-up this week, Charlotte was joined by Adil Ray in the ITV studios, presenting the show with GMB doc Hilary Jones.
Taking to Twitter, worried viewers asked after Kate, wondering why Charlotte was filling-in on the show.
