Ted Lasso is the ever-popular comedy series starring Jason Sudeikis and produced by Apple TV+. Returning for its second season this summer, the show has more fans than ever, so much so a third season was quickly confirmed, set to release next year. For any new viewers wanting to catch up on the show, Express.co.uk has all the details on how to do it.

What is Ted Lasso about?

Ted Lasso has been introduced to a new wave of fans after winning big at this year’s Emmy awards, taking place on September 19.

It follows an American football coach who travels to the UK to manage a failing London football team.

That coach is none other than the title character himself, played by Saturday Night Live star Jason Sudeikis.

At the Emmys Sudeikis won in the best lead comedy actor, while Hannah Waddingham, who plays Rebeca Welton, and Brett Goldstein, playing Roy Kent, won awards in the best supporting actress and actor categories.

How to watch Ted Lasso?

The show is available to watch exclusively on Apple TV+, and is only available on that platform internationally.

For anyone new to the streaming service, it is available to £4.99 in the UK and $4.99 in the USA.

There is also a free trial for newcomers to the platform, offering seven days of streaming for no cost.

No matter what part of the world viewers may live in, Apple TV+ is the only platform streaming the show as it is part of their continued push to offer subscribers a wealth of exclusive content.

Is Ted Lasso free to watch?

Other than the seven-day free trial, there is an alternative way to catch the show for free, though it would mean being an Apple product holder.

For anyone that buys a new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac, a three-month free trial of Apple TV+ is available.

It has to be signed up for, so any new Apple users should check to see if they are eligible for the offer.

Other than that, viewers will have to pay a monthly subscription to the service in order to catch up on the series.

Fans have loved Sudeikis in the title role, with the show’s loyal fanbase already desperate for Ted’s return in season three.

The line between Sudeikis and Ted has been blurred for fans, with the star recently joking about how he needs to correct them about his true identity.

Speaking to USA Today, Sudeikis joked: “I correct them; tell them my name is Jason, in the kindest way possible.”

“There are no classes in how to be famous. I just always felt a strong pull to return the energy that you’re given.

“If someone’s a little bullish, you maybe meet them there. But if people are enjoying ‘Ted Lasso,’ they’re usually coming up and speaking through a place of kindness and appreciation. I just try to reciprocate that.”

Yet, Sudeikis also accepts some of the similarities between himself and his on-screen persona.

In an interview with inews, Sudeikis explained: “I believe I’m optimistic. I am hopeful, but nowhere near as much as Ted – he’s the best version of me.

“Ted is like (and remember, I lived in Amsterdam for a while) me on mushrooms.

“He’s me after two pints on an empty stomach during the day, where you’re fired up and ready to send that- text to the date that didn’t call back or write a play with a friend. But I’m lucky enough to have a positive outlook on the world.”

Ted Lasso seasons one and two are available to watch exclusively on Apple TV+.
