Holly Willoughby concerns fans with 'sad' appearance during Lorraine link ahead of today's This Morning

HOLLY Willoughby concerned fans today following her "sad" appearance on Lorraine's live link to the This Morning studio.

Host Lorraine Kelly always checks in with Holly and co-host Phillip Schofield ahead of the show, but viewers noticed something different today.

Lorraine was her usual chipper self as she cut to the other ITV studio, where Phil also appeared to be acting the same as always.

However, 40-year-old Holly kicked off the link with a quiet "hi", and her co-star appeared to dominate much of the chat.

Viewers worried that the blonde beauty appeared to be downcast, and flocked to Twitter to share their observation.

One fan wrote: "Blimey that link to Phil and Holly! Holly didn't look happy did she….eeek", another replied: "I thought the same…"

A third viewer begged: "Holly, darling, please be happier."

While one more remarked: "We know it’s a Monday but don’t need doom and gloom #ThisMorning #ThisMorningtv."

Another simply wrote: "Cheer up, Holly."

Holly was much more herself when This Morning kicked off, with she and Phil having plenty to celebrate as they returned to our screens for the first time since winning a National Television Award.

Accepting the gong at Thursday's ceremony, Holly reflected on a difficult year amid the coronavirus pandemic as she gushed: "What was amazing for us was, every single day, because of the brilliance of ITV, we could stay on air and we could be there.

"We felt like we were everyone's comfort blankets, but for all of us, you were our comfort blankets too.

"This Morning is an incredible team, and we are lucky to just be one cog in the wheel. We just wanted to give you a normal morning, thank you for voting, it means the absolute world."
