Kristian is best known for having played Hodor in the popular fantasy series.
Hodor, who was originally named Wylis, was a simple-minded servant of House Stark at Winterfell working in the stables.
However, he ended up playing an important role in the plot of Game of Thrones as he traveled alongside and protected Bran Stark, who went on to become King of the Six Kingdoms.
Hodor was sadly killed off in a shocking twist in season six that left fans in tears.
The gentle giant died at the hands of the White Walkers, after Bran Stark took control of his body during the attack on the cave where they’d been hiding out.
In the emotional scene Bran wargs into Hodor, accidentally linking the minds of the present-day Hodor and his younger version from the past.
As a result of Bran’s warging, young Hodor experiences his own future death, damaging his mind.
The shocking twist left fans devastated that the beloved character would no longer be a part of the show.
Now over two years since the fantasy series came to a conclusion, Kristian has reflected on his time playing Hodor.
When asked if he still gets recognised from the show, the actor exclaimed: “Yes, everyday!”
He opened up about how it feels to have been a part of a series that’s famed worldwide and to have played such a well loved character.
Kristian confessed: “I still feel lucky to have been involved in such an epic project.
“Hodor was such a unique character, and I enjoyed playing him totally,” he added.
Kristian also shared his thoughts on the controversial final season of Game of Thrones.
The ending of the show split fans with some loving the ending, while others were unhappy with the way some storylines wrapped up.
Revealing his thoughts on the series finale, Kristian said: “I try to be objective here.
“But, I’m a fan of things too and when something you deeply love doesn’t live up to what you expect, I get it, I understand.
“However, I didn’t dislike the last season, I just wish it was longer,” the actor explained.
Luckily for Game of Thrones fans the story isn’t fully over as HBO has a prequel series in the works.
They are currently working on a new series House of Dragons that is set before the events of Game of Thrones and will tell the story of Daenerys’ ancestors in House Targaryen.
The cast of the prequel series includes a number of well known actors including: Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith and Rhys Ifans.
Game of Thrones seasons one to eight are available on DVD and Blu-ray.
