Emmerdale has aired the final scenes of sacked actor Asan N’Jie, who was sacked from the soap after a row with Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards which saw him threaten to stab him.
After the incident, Asan issued an apology for his behaviour but Emmerdale continued to air his scenes as Ellis Chapman which had already been recorded. He appeared for the last time in the first of Emmerdale’s double tonight but a scene later saw Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) explain to Kim Tate (Claire King) and Al Champan (Michael Wildman) that Ellis had accepted a new job in Dubai and was moving abroad with his mum Jessie Grant (Sandra Marvin).
In the wake of the incident at the TV Choice Awards, Asan said: ‘My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.
After the dust had settled, the actor recently tweeted: ‘All the people who’ve reached out and had my back you’ll never know how much I appreciate you. I’ve learned, I’ve grown and now I’m working harder than ever to finish what I started. Keep you’re circle tight and always fall forward!
‘The universe tends to unfold as it should. (sic)’
Ellis wasn’t the only departure from this week’s Emmerdale storylines as Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) final storyline was playing out, with the police surrounding him and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
Other actors who have recently left include Sally Dexter (Faith), Anthony Quinlan (Pete), Michael Praed (Frank) and Gaynor Faye (Megan).
