Emma Willis sends The One Show fans wild as she steps in to replace Alex Jones

Daily Star’s Inside Hot TV newsletter sees Ed Gleave send you telly’s hot takes straight to your inbox every Sunday

The One Show fans love to see Alex Jones on the BBC programme each week, but viewers were certainly happy with a surprise from Emma Willis this evening.

Emma has hosted a sea of popular shows, including Big Brother, and her fans remain loyal as ever and still love to see her on their screens.

She joined Jermaine Jenas to discuss the football, the NHS, a new game show and Matt Haig and his new book.

Immediately as she showed up on screen, fans were sharing their joy to see her back on TV.

One user wrote: "Emma Willis and JJ nailed that episode of The One Show tonight. She is such a smooth professional presenter, it made him up his game too."

Another added: "Enjoyed Emma Willis' unexpected low key presenting tonight on The One Show."

A third person chirped: "It's great having Emma Willis presenting on The One Show, she would be great as maternity cover for Alex Jones just saying…"

Viewers were impressed with Emma and Jermaine's joint hosting abilities as they welcomed various guests onto the show via video link.

One person that was able to come to the studio himself was Ashley Banjo, who spoke to both Emma and Jermaine about his new TV show with Fleur East.

The new game show, The Void, will be coming to ITV on Saturday nights in a warrior ninja style assault course – the show will see people take on different challenges and see who is the last person standing.

Both Fleur and Ashley even had a go themselves – but they wouldn't reveal the aftermath of their attempts, just teasing that one of them was successful.

Viewers will have to wait and see what happens, but one thing they can be sure of is that they will be seeing Emma back on their screens tomorrow.

Fans are hopeful that Emma could be making the occasional guest appearance for a little while, as Alex Jones heads off on maternity leave to give birth to her third child.

A permanent replacement hasn't been confirmed, but it looks like Emma has stepped in to support Jermaine in his hosting duties this week.

The One Show continues tomorrow at 7pm on BBC.
