Ruby (played by Louisa Lytton) made sure Stacey (Lacey Turner) was put behind bars after the former was devastated following a miscarriage and decided to pin the blame on Stacey, with whom she had been involved in a confrontation. The argument saw the manipulative EastEnders character trip down the stairs, which was an accident. But Ruby claimed that Stacey had pushed her and that the impact caused her to lose her baby. Stacey has been in prison for months now, and it seems Ruby has been able to carry on her life in Walford with few consequences. But recent scenes on the BBC soap suggest Ruby’s conscience is affecting her, and she’s likely to reveal all. With Ruby actress Louise leaving the soap soon to have a baby in real life, is this the start of Ruby’s exit?

Thursday’s episode saw Ruby recovering from a medical procedure that aims to help her get pregnant.

Ruby is desperate to become a mother, but her heartbreaking endometriosis diagnosis has made it difficult for her to have a baby.

While getting over the surgery, Ruby forgot about Martin’s (James Bye) birthday and was wracked with guilt.

At one point, she tearfully tells Martin she doesn’t think she deserves to be a mother because of her actions.

He reassured her that she is a good person, but she confessed to him that she has done some “bad things.”

“Do you think I’m a selfish person, Martin?” She asked her partner.

She added: “I mean, you must do – I forgot your birthday.” Martin replied: “Of course I don’t.”

Ruby seemed to be crumbling with the pressure of keeping such dark secrets as she continued: “But what if my bad karma from being such a terrible person means this surgery isn’t meant to happen? I’m not meant to have our baby.”

Martin told Ruby she wasn’t a bad person and she replied: “No, I am. I am, and everybody knows it.

“I mean Isaac’s (Stevie Basaula) told half the Square how evil I am.”

She continued: “I’ve made mistakes, Martin. There’s stuff that I’m really ashamed of, and that’s why this is happening because I’m not meant to be a mum.”

Martin told her “bad things happen to good people”, such as Jean [Slater, Gillian Wright].

He reminded her that Jean is a good person who had to face cancer, but is now better.

This probably made Ruby feel worse though, because she knows that Stacey’s mother is in fact battling cancer again, and none of her family is aware.

Jean had been supportive of Ruby, believing that Ruby had tried to overturn Stacey’s conviction, but this was another lie she had told.

The pair were spending some time together recently when Jean got a call to say Stacey had been fighting in prison and had lost her visitation rights.

Jean suddenly turned on Ruby, telling her she might never see her daughter again and that it would be Ruby’s fault.

Her words seem to have had an impact on Ruby, who has been struggling with her guilt ever since.

It seems it’s only a matter of time before she tells Martin what she did – and he isn’t likely to be forgiving.

With Ruby’s exit lined up in the soap, could she be forced out of Walford once everyone learns of her evil lies?

Martin has had to take care of he and Stacey’s devastated children since she was imprisoned, but he believed justice was being served.

When he finds out Ruby had actually had a miscarriage which was nothing to do with Stacey, he will be furious and is likely to chuck Ruby out of his life.

With nobody to turn to, this will probably see her leaving Albert Square.

Fans are also speculating on how Ruby’s lies will finally catch up with her.

One took to Twitter to say: “I predict Janine will take over Ruby’s.. Ruby will be leaving soon so I think that will pave the way for Janine to make her dramatic entrance back to the Square #EastEnders.”

Another wrote: “I can see Ruby’s lies been exposed for her maternity leave exit #rubyallen #Eastenders.”

“Lacey Turner (Stacey) is set to return to filming very soon as her Maternity leave comes to an end. Hopefully Jean will finally tell her the truth about her potentially having Cancer, definitely gonna be fireworks when she finds out Ruby knew & didn’t say anything #Eastenders,” a third commented.

On Reddit, a fan said: “I think Ruby is hitting breaking point so she might blurt it out soon.”

EastEnders continues on Friday at 9pm on BBC One.
