EastEnders icon Lacey Turner campaigning for Adele to play Staceys best friend

EastEnders star Lacey Turner is campaigning for superfan Adele to make a cameo in the BBC soap as her on-screen best friend.

The 33-year-old actress, who portrays Stacey Slater on the show, revealed her dream hire in an exclusive interview with OK!’s Soap Stars Coming Clean series.

When asked which celebrity she would love to see doing a guest role, Lacey said: “Adele! I know she’s a fan of the show and she’s mentioned EastEnders in a couple of Instagram videos recently.

"I think she’d be brilliant and so funny. And her and Stacey would have a great laugh together”.

The soap star also revealed a shocking fan moment that she’ll never forget during the candid interview.

She said: “Someone put me in a headlock once. I’m sure it was out of love…”

Lacey also revealed she is “very lucky” to be so close to her castmates and that they are all very close off-camera.

“I have so many close friends on set. I’ve been very lucky. I would have to say Jessie Wallace , James Bye , Gillian Wright, Nat Cassidy and Linda Henry.

"They’re my family on and off the show and I always have so much fun with all of them.”

The London-born star labelled co-star and Martin Fowler actor James Bye as “the joker of the pack” along with Scott Maslen, who plays Jack Branning.

“I’m in stitches whenever I’m around either of them,” she said.

When asked If she could play another character on EastEnders, who would it be, Lacey revealed: “Jean or Shirley as they have the best one-liners and they deliver them so well. They always make me laugh.”

She also opened up about her favourite moment from her time on the hit soap: “I think it has to be the live 30th anniversary where Bradley died and Stacey was revealed to be Archie’s killer.

“Filming the show live is exhilarating and there were so many twists and turns. It was so much fun and something I’ll always remember being a part of.”

Lacey also discussed the difficulties of filming her scenes during all the Covid restrictions.

“Talking through Perspex screens when you couldn’t hear anyone on the other side. It was very odd but we made it work,” she said, detailing some of the strangest filming techniques that were used on set.

Shockingly, Lacey admitted she “doesn’t watch any other soap”, though she’d be happy to appear in one of them.

Outside of acting that TV star also revealed she’d love to have pursued a career in architecture: “I would love to have been an architect.

"I love design and house and creating spaces”
