EastEnders Dotty Cotton (played by Milly Zero) and Tom ‘Rocky’ Cotton (Brian Conley) have been trying to scam Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) out of her inheritance money over the last few months. Rocky has been pretending to be Sonia’s long lost father all along, however, he is actually Dotty’s uncle. Dotty bought in on the scheme after discovering what he was doing, however, all their work could start to unravel as her mother, Sandy Gibson (Martha Cope), returns to Walford and causes trouble for the pair in the BBC soap.

In upcoming scenes, Dotty is shocked and relieved when Sandy appears at Ruby’s and tells her mum that she has been saving up for a place in rehab for her.

But, when she soon tells Rocky her mum is back, she explains he needs to scam Peter Beale (Dayle Hudson) for more cash to pay for rehab.

However, when Sandy spies Rocky, she immediately becomes suspicious of his behaviour.

When Dotty tells her mother she has paid for the deposit for her spot in rehab, Sandy is more interested in just taking the money.

As Dotty returns to the house, she sees Rocky being carted off in an ambulance as he has suffered a heart attack whilst writing a confession letter to Sonia and Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).

Elsewhere, after receiving attitude from Tiffany Butcher-Baker (Maisie Smith), Sandy soon tells Dotty she will no longer stay in her house.

Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) offers Dotty and Sandy his bedsit, but Sandy will only stay there on one condition.

Dotty thanks Vinny for being a good friend, but it is clear there are more feelings still involved for Vinny towards his ex-girlfriend.

The scheming student now has to worry about getting her addict mother clean – and making sure she doesn’t expose Rocky’s true identity.

If Sandy finds out the truth about where all the money is coming from, will she expose her own daughter to make a better life for herself?

Will Dotty end up going to prison at the hands of her own mother?

Speaking on her character’s rocky relationship with her mum, Milly Zero told Digital Spy: “Dotty had no idea where she was.

“She could only assume the worst knowing her mum and the kind of situations that she tends to get in with her drug abuse.

“She could be dead, she could be in hospital, so Dotty has literally been pulling her hair out worrying about her mum.

“When she sees her mum, she’s super relieved that she’s back and that she’s safe,” she added.

Milly continued: “Dotty would go to extreme lengths to help her mum, if someone asked her that question, she’d probably go like ‘oh no, I wouldn’t go that far’.

“But when it comes down to it, she will do anything, there is no boundary between her, and her mum knows that.

“Her mum knows that Dotty is weak when it comes to her, and she really exploits that, so I think you really see a vulnerable side of Dotty when it comes to what her mum asks her to do,” she explained.

“Deep down [Dotty] isn’t that naïve, and she’s been through it before where her mum’s got clean and then got back on the drugs.

“She knows that this might be something that they will be facing for the rest of their lives, but she still clings onto that little hope that this might be the time that everything’s different.”
