Doctor Who fans will have to wait until the year 2020 for the show to return however showrunner Chris Chibnall has given a few crumbs about what season 12 has in store for Jodie Whittaker.
In one word? ‘Havoc.’
Chibnall took to his Doctor Who magazine column, where he talked about the upcoming show.
He told fans: ‘Knowing that we’d be filming in broad daylight with Judoon on the streets of Gloucester, we made a plan to release an official photo with the Doctor (oof, she looks cross, why would she be looking cross?) the night before.’
Chibnall confirmed that Nicholas Briggs will be back to voicethe Judoon, adding that he could ‘never lose’ Judoonese.
He went on to say veteran Doctor Who actor Paul Kasey, who played dozens of monsters in the long span of the show, including a Clockwork Droid, The Hoix, Cyberman and The Host, will make his debut alongside Jodie’s Doctor in the costume.
Of the monsters, Chris said: ‘We have a slightly updated Judoon head from Kate Walsh and her team of geniuses at Millennium FX: same brilliant design, just updated with a little more animatronic tech.’
‘Welcome back, Judoon,’ he concluded. ‘Shame you’re going to cause so much havoc for the Doctor.’
Filming for the series has been underway for some time now, with Jodie, Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill reuniting in South Africa back in January.
The Doctor Who team were recently spotted filming in Gloucester earlier this year, with actress Jo Martin seen on set in character as a tour guide.
The Judoon, who are frequently employed as a mercenary police force on the planet Judoonia, were last seen on-screen back in 2007 when David Tennant was the Doctor, and their return has fans speculating about what the future can hold for the gang.
Doctor Who is set to return to the BBC in 2020.
