Death in Paradise has been a fan-favourite since it began back in 2011, having run for 64 episodes so far. Currently viewers have been able to stream seven series of the BBC show on US Netflix. However fans are eager to know whether the crime drama will be leaving Netflix in coming months.
Is Death in Paradise leaving Netflix?
Death in Paradise has been one of the BBC’s biggest hits since it began airing in 2011.
The crime drama follows a British inspector transferred to the fictional island of Saint Marie in the Caribbean.
The show has run for eight series so far in total with a ninth and 10th series already commissioned.
UK Netflix subscribers are currently able to watch the first five seasons of the programme on the streaming service.
This includes the series starring Ben Miller as detective Richard Poole and Kris Marshall as detective Humphrey Goodman.
WHEN IS DEATH IN PARADISE SEASON NINE OUT?
In the US, seven seasons are currently available to be watched on the streaming platform, including two seasons starring Ardal O’Hanlon as DI Jack Mooney.
However, according to What’s on Netflix, the anthology series has an expiry date on the streaming platform of August 2019.
Currently, the date of removal for the show is planned at August 1, 2019.
This means that fans of the show could have just less than a month to catch up on episodes of the detective drama.
Death in Paradise season eight was expected to be uploaded to the streaming platform in September, 2019 after airing in the UK earlier this year.
WHO IS IN THE CAST OF DEATH IN PARADISE?
The removal of older BBC shows on US Netflix is quite common after they have been on the platform for a while.
This is in part due to the BBC shifting its content across to its Britbox offering, which is a streaming platform shared with ITV outside of the UK.
There is no news about whether the show will be leaving UK Netflix so far.
Fans of the show are not able to watch the series on BBC iPlayer currently.
Some episodes of previous series have been playing on BBC One intermittently.
HOW DID DEATH IN PARADISE SERIES 8 END?
Currently season nine is expected to be released around January, 2020.
Before the latest series comes out, it is possible the BBC will upload previous series to iPlayer to let viewers catch up.
The ninth series is currently being filmed on the French-Caribbean island of Guadeloupe.
When released, viewers will be able to see DI Jack Mooney (played by Ardal O’Hanlon) head back to the island of Saint Marie.
The synopsis for the new series reads: “Series nine will see the Honoré Police team get to know their new DS, Madeleine, while a surprise kiss catches Jack off guard…”
Death in Paradise is currently available to watch on Netflix.
