David Ginola details how ‘life changed after meeting girlfriend on day he died

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star David Ginola has revealed how his “life changed” after meeting his girlfriend the same day he suffered a near-fatal heart attack during a football match that resulting in him dying for nine minutes.

Opening up in the Castle during Friday’s episode, The Frenchman, 54, explained that he met his partner Maëva Denat the same day he suffered the near-death experience six years ago, after being brought back to life by a defibrillator.

Speaking candidly about his experience, David noted that if it wasn't for doctors saving his life, he wouldn't have the “special relationship” he has now, while he also admitted he's yet to have therapy for his ordeal.

When asked by Frankie Bridge if he'd spoken to professionals about what he'd been through, David confessed he hadn't, telling her: “I should have. When I was out of the hospital, it was the first thing they asked me to do.”

The former Spurs star insisted: “I will, I think it’s necessary, it’s very important. Just to clarify things and say, 'Wow, OK.'"

He went on to say that after the experience, he no longer has a fear of death, adding: “I guess not anymore.”

He added in a recent interview with Telegraph: “I met my girlfriend the day I died. We’ve been together six years. She called me in the morning and she said, 'Did you have a good sleep?' I said, 'Very few hours, but it was fine.

“'In the afternoon, I died on the football pitch.'”

David underwent a quadruple bypass after an air ambulance took him to a hospital in Monaco.

Having confessed to being homesick, David’s girlfriend Maeva, 32, shared the heartwarming moment that he reunited with their three-year-old daughter Ever on her Instagram page on Tuesday.

The little girl ran to her proud father in the airport and jumped into his arms as he gave her a huge hug after spending a month in the Welsh castle, as the tune Magic Moments by Perry Como played in the background.

In a heart to heart with Danny Miller, David admitted he was homesick, confessing: “Every day I'm more in love with my girlfriend. Every day I'm more in passion with my life.

“I can't wait, I can't wait to get out and tell them how much I miss them. I think I'm going to hug my little girl for two hours. She will not understand.”
