Coronation Street fans have already witnessed multiple people in danger during super soap week as some fan-favourites are caught in the sink hole incident.

But as the show airs one of its most dramatic scenes to date, Shona actress Julia Goulding confessed some behind-the-scenes secrets on Loose Women on Friday afternoon.

While she was remaining incredibly tight-lipped regarding what is happening on The Cobbles, she did spill on the filming process.

Julia said: "There were rain bars, lots of them to make it realistic – we couldn't even see each other. We had a second set and a different studio was all built, we had our necks all in water.

"We were tethered to things so we didn't fall, lots of green screen everywhere to have the sinkhole appear.

She said: "They were up 30ft and tethered to scaffolding so nobody fell in, it was very action packed."

However, just to ensure that safety truly came first, Julia added: "I can guarantee no actors were hurt when we did it."

Julia was also quizzed on how much drama Corrie residents face nowadays, with the Loose Women ladies reminiscing on when the drama was far more toned down.

Julia confessed that the soap has to "move with the times", adding that they need to "keep things exciting".

She said: "When you have all the streaming services and dramas it's important that we keep up to date with the world, keep it exciting, it's escapism isn't it."

And Corrie certainly is keeping things exciting, with the tragic sinkhole accident meaning viewers will be saying goodbye to one resident.

Plans have been in place for a while, with boss Iain MacLeod confirming to Daily Star earlier this year that someone will be dying on the soap.

He said: "We have a big stunt planned that will centre around the sinkhole in the Platt family’s back garden. And that will result in a death.

"Deaths only really work if it’s somebody that you really care about and it’s going to be somebody that viewers know and love."

Predictions have been surrounding numerous fan-favourites, but many fans are convinced that Johnny will die after going in to help his ex Jenny.

But which Corrie favourite will fans say their goodbyes to?

Loose Women airs at 12:30pm weekdays on ITV.

Coronation Street airs this evening at 7:30pm and 8:30pm.
