Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has revealed who her character's next doomed relationship will be with.
The actress, who has played Maria Connor since 2000, says her luck is about to turn around on the cobbles – but not for long.
Maria has just had her heart broken by Dr Ali Neeson – played by James Burrows – who brutally dumped her.
What she doesn't know yet is that he's battling a drug addiction and broke up with her to protect her.
Fans of the ITV soap have sine seen her getting flirty with Gary Windass (Mikey North) and the romance is set to blossom.
But after Gary became a murderer and a loan shark, the relationship is sure to end badly.
Speaking exclusively to Mirror Online at Nickelodeon's Slimefest at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Samia revealed there's trouble lying ahead for Maria.
When asked how Maria will react when she discovers Ali's secret, the mum-of-two told us: "She doesn't find out for quite a while, I don't think she'll be too happy when she finds out and she'll probably wish he'd just told her the truth and it would have saved a lot of trouble, and she could have helped him.
"But there's quite a lot of other stuff going on for Maria by the time she finds out."
Samia, 37, also revealed that her character will embark on a new romance with evil Gary.
She said: "She's so unlucky in love, it just never works out. You know whenever she's happy that it's not going to last.
"This current storyline and who she gets together with next, I think I can say it's Gary, it's been teased, and that's going to be full of twists and turns, and you just know that's not going to end well either.
"Let's let her be happy for a little bit though."
She added: "I'm really excited to do it. We've started doing it a little bit now and it's really good fun and it's great working with Mikey as well."
