Casualty confirms when it will return to screens

Casualty has revealed that it will return to screen next week.

The BBC One medical drama confirmed its return on social media, after it took a break from screens following the episode which aired on May 30.

The official Casualty Twitter account tweeted: ‘When you hear ‘#Casualty is back next week.’

Prior to the hiatus, the final episode of the serial drama saw Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing), Faith Cadogan (Kirsty Mitchell), Dylan Keogh (William Beck) and Charlie Fairhead (Derek Thompson) taken hostage in intense scenes.

Following the showdown, Charlie decided to return to work at the hospital — a decision which delighted all of the staff at the Emergency Department.

The BBC One drama was forced to shut down production amid the Covid-19 pandemic earlier this year.

In an effort to ensure it remained on screens for as long as possible, the episodes which were completed prior to lockdown have been rationed out — with several hiatus’ along the way.

The same method of rationing was applied to spin-off series Holby City, which recently returned to screens with a series of new episodes following a lengthy break.

Casualty returns on Saturday 11 July on BBC One.
