'Big Little Lies' Season 2: Did Mary Louise Kill Perry's Father?

Meryl Streep is making big waves in Season 2 of HBO’s Big Little Lies. The actress’s character, Mary Louise, showed up in Monterey this season to get to the bottom of Perry’s (Alexander Skarsgard) tragic death. So far, Mary has broken everyone’s expectations and has sparked some speculation about her involvement in the death of Perry’s father. Did Mary kill Perry’s dad?

Mary investigates Perry’s death

In Season 2 of Big Little Lies, Mary has decided to remain in Monterey until she learns the truth about her son’s death. Mary does not accept the explanation that he simply fell, and it is hard to blame her. Although Celeste (Nicole Kidman) is clearly apprehensive about Mary’s constant prodding, it is safe to say that Mary is going to stick around until she gets to the bottom of whatever happened to Perry.

Perry’s death aside, Mary has shown that she has a fewsinister qualities to her nature. According to Romper, she sometimes appears to be very loving and understanding, but the next momentshe proves to be equally manipulative and undercutting.

Mary’s complicated nature may explain why Perry behaved theway he did towards women, but it has also sparked some theories that Mary isjust as violent as her son.

Did Mary kill her husband?

We still do not know a lot about how Perry was raised. Wecan expect to learn more about his upbringing as the season progresses, but hischildhood was anything but normal. In fact, Mary has suggested that Celeste didsomething that warranted Perry’s abuse, which is something that could reflecther own history.

If that is the case, it is possible that Mary was abused byher husband. This could explain Perry’s violent nature and why he saw nothingwrong with abusing his wife.

Perhaps Perry’s dad was so violent that Mary found a way tofight back and eventually killed him. That said, it is possible that Mary wasthe violent one and abused her husband. There is also a theory that Perry tookto his mother’s defense and killed his father. The act had a lasting effect onPerry and resulted in his violent nature.

At this point in the story, any one of theories could becorrect. Hopefully we will learn more about Perry’s father and the forces thatshaped Mary as the season wears on.

What about Perry’s brother?

To complicate things even further, there is still plenty ofmystery surrounding the death of Perry’s brother, Raymond. We admittedly do notknow much about Raymond, but considering Perry’s violent ways, it is conceivablethat he had a hand in his brother’s demise.

Season 1 of Big LittleLies showcased Perry’s darkest nature, which included raping Jane andbeating his wife. Perry was clearly capable of murder as an adult, but thatdoes not mean he could have committed the unspeakable act as a child.

Per his mom, Perry was the sweetest child a parent couldhope for and for all we know, that might be true. But it is also possible thatMary was blind to Perry’s evil ways and thought he was an angel when he wasreally a devil in disguise.

Exactly how Perry may have killed Raymond, of course, isunknown. It could have been an accident or a violent encounter gone wrong.Either way, it looks like she should learn more about Raymond’s backstory thisseason.

What’s ahead in Season 2 of ‘Big Little Lies’?

Raymond’s death has quickly become one of the biggestmysteries in Season 2 of Big Little Lies.It is likely that Perry played a part in his brother’s death, but thatrevelation is not a huge shocker. What fans really want to know is how muchMary knows about Raymond’s demise and whether or not she was involved in theaccident.
