BGT: Champions' Nelson Twins reckon Prince Philip wouldn't mind car crash jab

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champion’s Nelson Twins have laughed off the risqué Prince Philip joke they made in their stand-up routines – believing the monarch would be OK with the joke.

The 37-year-old Australian twins are trying to win over the UK public on BGT: Champions tonight, but caused a stir with the audience and judges when they poked fun at the Royal family.

Joking about flipping their car over in their home in New South Wales, the pair declared they called it ‘The Prince Philip’ in reference to the car accident scandal that rocked the 98-year-old earlier this year.

Speaking exclusively to, Justin joked: ‘Prince Philip won’t even hear about it, he is abroad at the moment filming the latest instalment of Jackass.’

He also added that they would’ve cracked the joke in the presence of the family too – because they know they can handle a joke.

‘The royals have a great sense of humour,’ he laughed. ‘Prince Philip is the king of one liners.’

Ahead of their appearance on UK telly, the duo also spilled the details about what the acts were like backstage – claiming The Sacred Riana maintained her silent and scary persona even when the cameras were off.

This is the guys’ first time on UK soil, and with the exception of original BGT winner Paul Potts, Justin said that they hadn’t heard of many of the acts they were competing against.

‘We didn’t know a lot about the show or who we were working with,’ he said. ‘When you live in Australia, the rest of the world doesn’t tell you much.’

Justin and Chris made it to the final of the talent competition back in 2012, and were asked to return by Simon Cowell himself, or so they say.

‘Simon Cowell would not stop calling us [for BGT Champions],’ Justin joked. ‘He was relentless. In the end, we agreed to do it so he would leave us alone.’

But unfortunately for them, their performance at Wembley Arena wasn’t quite the rock star fantasy that they were hoping for.

The star said: ‘I thought we were performing at Wembley Stadium, when it sunk in, I was devastated!’

Let’s hope the trip was worth it!

Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions airs tonight at 8pm on ITV.
