Ben puts himself at serious risk leading to a breakdown in EastEnders

Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) is set to put himself at serious risk as he overworks himself in upcoming EastEnders episodes, in order to help out dying Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold).

Though Lola has only been given a few months to live, following her brain tumour diagnosis last year, she has been determined to carry on working in order to support her family.

However, after working through terrible pain, Lola realises that she must put herself first, and decides it is time to give up work.

Unfortunately, this piles further pressure on an already struggling Ben, who is determined to do right by Lola and best friend Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick).

Husband Callum Highway (Tony Clay) and mum Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) begin to notice Ben’s exhaustion, and Callum begs him to stop working so hard.

But Ben is hell-bent on continuing to provide for his family, and ignores his advice.

When Ben learns of Lola’s decision to give up work, he chooses to pick up even more overtime, leaving Callum seriously worried.

As well as overworking himself, Ben is silently struggling with bulimia, an eating disorder which sees sufferers eat a lot of food in a very short amount of time and then make themselves sick, use laxatives or do excessive exercise in order to stop themselves gaining weight.

As he puts more and more effort into working, he finds himself exhausted and ends up breaking down, alone.

Will he realise that he needs help, or will he continue to suffer in silence?
