BBC Breakfast turned frosty after sports reporter John Watson took a savage swipe at his co-star Nina Warhust and branded the broadcaster “shouty” on air.
During Sunday’s instalment of the hugely popular BBC One morning show, the 42-year-old welcomed viewers back to the infamous red sofa alongside her co-host Ben Thompson.
One of the biggest stories on everyone’s lips was England’s performance in the World Cup which is being hosted in Qatar during the Christmas period for the first time.
Throughout the three-hour long show, the presenting duo welcomed the sports presenter onto the show to interview former World Cup winner and German football manager, Jürgen Klinsmann, live in from Doha.
After learning how Germany sustain their impressive lead in the sporting league, the journalist asked the dynamic duo how they would inspire success in the England football team.
He asked: “I wonder what would you guys be, would you be a shouter, would you be in there stirring those emotions, would you be encouraging the players?
“Or would you be very calm, very measured and kind of leave the players to their own thoughts? It’s one of those balances, you’ve got to strike the right balance, haven’t you?”
It’s fair to say the brunette beauty didn’t hesitate with her answer, as she immediately replied: “I know which side I'd be on John – definitely the former, encouraging, shouty”.
The sports reporter quickly jumped at the chance to take a savage swipe at the broadcaster on the show as he noted that she is always “encouraging” in the BBC newsroom.
He jibed: “You're always very encouraging in the office, Nina. You always have very encouraging words for everybody,” before reminding her: “You said it not me.”
