The former ‘Man of Steel’ actress and ‘Ant-Man’ actor have been cast as a couple who receive a shocking invite while struggling to reignite the spark in their troubled relationship.
AceShowbiz –Amy Adams, Paul Rudd, and Tessa Thompson will join forces in “The Invite“. The trio have boarded feature in the comedy film based on Cesc Gay’s award-winning 2020 Spanish film “Sentimental“.
Penned by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, the movie is being directed for FilmNation Entertainment and Permut Presentations by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris.
The film tells the story of Joe (Rudd) and Angela (Adams), who find that their relationship is stuck in a rut after 15 years of marriage. Desperate to have a conversation that doesn’t revolve around their marriage woes, Angela invites their rowdy neighbours Kayla (Thompson) and Shane over for cocktails.
Joe is irritated that he has to engage with the couple and plans to use the occasion to confront them but he and Angela both get more than they bargained for as they discover Kayla and Shane are hosting weekly orgies and have an invite for them.
Amy has played Lois Lane in a number of DC Extended Universe (DCEU) movies opposite Henry Cavill‘s Superman and confirmed that she would support the studio in whatever casting decisions they make after film chiefs decided that Cavill will not play the Man of Steel again.
She told Variety, “They haven’t spoken to me about it. If it’s me, great. If it’s somebody else, the role of Lois has been filled by so many wonderful actresses in the past so I’ll support whatever direction they go.”
