As the trial between Coleen Rooney and her fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy gets properly underway, one revelation might surprise you more than most.
Rebekah Vardy has now admitted she “regrets” comparing pop star Peter Andre’s penis to a chipolata sausage after being grilled on the stand.
It comes after Rooney accused Vardy of leaking “false stories” about her to the media and carried out a months-long “sting operation” to identify the supposed culprit.
Proceedings for the libel trial began on Tuesday (May 10) at London’s High Court, after Vardy sought legal action against Rooney’s accusations.
Vardy has repeatedly denied leaking information about Rooney’s private life to the press.
But she was soon confronted by Rooney’s barrister David Sherborne, who brought out a News of the World interview about an alleged rendezvous with Mysterious Girl singer – and Katie Price’s ex – Peter Andre.
The headline read: “Peter’s hung like a small chipolata, shaved, slobbery, lasts five minutes”.
Mr Sherborne shared what appeared to be an A3 print-out of the article as Rebekah stood in the witness box and read aloud various excerpts.
In the article – which dates from 2004 – it was claimed that the Australian singer managed “just five minutes of sex with Rebekah”, and said Andre shaved all of the hair off his body.
She further claimed his penis was like a “miniature chipolata”, branding it “the smallest trouser equipment I’ve ever seen”.
Vardy added in the article that Andre “made no attempt to satisfy me” and claimed that when kissing he “drooled like a slobbery dog”.
Mr Sherborne then asked Vardy: “Did you think it was respectful of Mr Andre’s desire not for this to be made public for you to say all this to the News of the World and 4million readers?”
Vardy then claimed she was “forced” to do the story by her ex-husband.
She said: “I was forced into a situation by my ex-husband to do this story.
“This is something I deeply regret and something that is very much part of my past. It is not nice to read. But I was in a terrible, terrible relationship.
“The consequences of not doing something were far worse than doing it. It is horrible.”
Pressed further on whether she needed to specifically discuss the size of Andre’s manhood, Vardy said: “It was something I was forced to say.”
Peter Andre has since spoken out on the allegations about his genitals, said: “Do you know how hard it is to keep biting my lip on situations?
“But the way I look at it, most people saw in the jungle how an acorn turned into an oak so I think I’m ok!” referring to his 2004 I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! stint.
He said: “At least she has now admitted it wasn’t true and was forced to say it.”
