Meryl Streep bares all in Netflix's Don't Look Up in a very revealing nude scene.
The moment left her co-star Leonardo Dicaprio somewhat stumped as he requested for the clip to be cut out due to her Hollywood royalty "status".
Hollywood superstar Meryl, 72, plays the character President Janie Orlean in the film and in the final scene her character is seen exposing it all from behind – with bare bum cheeks on display.
Before the movie debuted in early December, the talked-about 'nude' scene had already hit the headlines after its director Adam McKay, 53, revealed her co-star Leonardo, 47, took issue with the scene as he sees the actress as "film royalty".
Adam said: "You know who had a problem with it? Leo. Leo just views Meryl as film royalty … although maybe royalty is not a compliment … but as such a special figure in the history of film."
He went on: "He said something to me like: 'Do you really need to show that?' And I was like: "It's President Orlean; it's not Meryl Streep." But she didn't even blink. She didn't even bring it up. She is fearless."
Yet what many fans and film lovers didn't realise was that the Hollywood icon in the bare-all scene was depicted by a body double.
In the movie, which centres around scientists unproductively telling citizens the world is going to end due to a comet – Meryl's character Janie is a Trump-esque politician with strong political views.
The scene in question sees her character go completely nude, exposing a vast tattoo on her lower back – a tattoo often described in a derogatory connotation as a tramp stamp.
Many fans were convinced it was the Hollywood actress, who has also starred in blockbuster movies like Mamma Mia! and The Devil Wear's Prada, who had her bare bum out in the jaw-dropping scene.
One viewer tweeted: "Never in my life did I expect to see Meryl Streep's bare naked a*s #DontLookUp… They had Thee Meryl Streep butt naked with a tramp stamp and everything… Bloody hell it's the only bit I caught… Meryl Streep naked…. Quite the shock at teatime."
Another penned: "Meryl Streep was naked at the end of look up… Idk if that was real but I never thought I would see Meryl Streep that naked in my life…"
However, the movie's director confirmed it wasn't Meryl's lower half in the scene but a double body.
Don't Look Up's ensemble Hollywood cast also includes Timothée Chalamet, Jennifer Lawrence, Tyler Perry, Cate Blanchett and Ron Perlman. The movie is in theaters now and will begin streaming on Netflix December 24.
