Leave It To Beaver star Tony Dow has died at the age of 77 after recently announcing his cancer had returned.

A statement from Dow's representatives was released to confirm the sad news, it read: "Tony was a beautiful soul – kind, compassionate, funny and humble.

"It was truly a joy to just be around him. His gentle voice and unpretentious manner was immediately comforting and you could not help but love him.

"The world has lost an amazing human being, but we are all richer for the memories that he has left us."

The TV star appear in the popular late 195's sitcom as the popular CBS comedy as the young Wally Cleaver.

Back in May of this year, Dow's wife Lauren Shulkind confirmed the "heartbreaking" news that the illness had tragically made a comeback.

She said: "Unfortunately, Tony has once again been diagnosed with cancer.

"He is approaching this reality so bravely, but it is truly heartbreaking."

"We want to thank you in advance for your caring thoughts."

Last year, it became apparent that Dow had been suffering with health after he was diagnosed with pneumonia – with his family stamping out that it had nothing to do with Covid-19.

At the time of Dow's pneumonia battle, his wife explained that they'd had to wait 24 hours for a hospital bed to become free – due to the surge in coronavirus cases in California.
