Taylor Swift is a very unhappy woman right now. The 10-timeGrammy award winning artist took to social media to share her disgust atScooter Braun owning the masters of her early work. Swift’s music fell intoBraun’s hands after his company, Ithaca Holdings purchased Big Machine Records, the label Swift had been previously signed to. Ownership of Swift’s early workcame along with the deal, but Swift and Braun have a pretty long history withone another and none of its good. Now, the feud has gone public, and plenty ofpeople are weighing in.

Scooter Braun is a massive name in the music and entertainment industry. Braun’s company, Ithaca Holdings, is now in the process of gobbling up portions of the music industry and helping to expand the super-rep’s client list. With the purchase of Big Machine records, Braun now has ownership over Swift’s work that was completed under the label’s name. Swift famously walked away from the label that made her famous after her 10-year contract expired. She has since gone on to sign with Universal Music Group, according to Billboard.
Why does Taylor Swift hate Scooter Braun?
Swift’s disdain for Braun seems to stretch back severalyears, but most people trace the feud to the 2016 dispute between Kanye Westand Swift. In 2016, West released a song that Swift had denounced, claiming ithad misogynistic undertones. The line specifically about Swift was lambasted bythe songstress for trying to undermine her success.

Later, Kim Kardashian West went on the record and released recordings of Swift giving her consent for her name to be used in the song. Swift later went underground after the incident but alleges Braun actively attempted to bully her, then dismantle her career. Braun has always denied the allegations.
Other celebrities are weighing in on the drama
No one is saying Swift doesn’t have a right to have beef with Braun, that’s for sure. What went on between Swift and West back in 2016 is enough to leave a sour taste in anyone’s mouth, but several big names in the music industry have called Swift’s Tumblr post a series of mistruths. Scott Borchetta, the CEO of Big Machine, took to the website to display some of what Swift had to say.

According to Borchetta, the suggestion that Swift “woke up” up to the news of the acquisition was simply false. Borchetta went on to tell the public that Scott Swift, Taylor’s father, was made aware of the deal in the days leading up to the news, as he is a shareholder of Big Machine Records, LLC. According to Fox News, Borchetta also alleges he reached out to Swift directly via text to give her a heads up.
Yael Cohen, Braun’s wife, also took to social media in an attempt to set the record straight. The CEO of the F— Cancer charity, shot down Swift’s attempt to label Braun, a “bully.” She went on to lambast the 29-year-old songstress for lying about how her tracks fell into the hands of Braun, noting she had the opportunity to take ownership but walked away from the option. She finished her diatribe by suggesting that Swift, herself, was the only one acting like a Bully, according to People

Justin Bieber also came forward to defend Braun. Bieber was pulled into the conversation when Swift used a 2016 Instagram post of Bieber’s to prove that Braun had actively attempted to bully the star. Bieber apologized for the post but said Braun had absolutely nothing to do with it and had told the pop star to not joke about Swift.
