Elvis Presley suddenly died of a heart attack at the age of just 42. Two days later, around 80,000 people lined the streets on the short journey from Graceland to Forest Hill Cemetery where he would be buried next to his mother. On the day of the funeral, The King’s pallbearers were Billy Smith, Gene Smith, Joe Esposito, Lamar Like, Dr George Nichopoulos, Charlie Hodge, Jerry Schilling and George Klein.

Elvis’ cousin Billy and his wife Jo Smith revisited the Forest Hill Cemetery Mausoleum together recently in a new video on their YouTube channel Elvis Fans Matter.

The Memphis Mafia member said how he remembered coming up the steps to the building carrying The King in his casket.

Inside the little chapel where the body was first laid, a private ceremony took place with the star’s nearest and dearest in attendance.

And while they were there, Jo recalled how the light caused a unique moment in that service.
