Colin Firth, 59, has separated from his wife Livia Giuggioli, 50, after 22 years, his publicist has confirmed.
The British actor's publicist explained that Colin and Livia "maintain a close friendship and remain united in their love for their children".
The full statement reads: "Colin and Livia Firth have separated.
"They maintain a close friendship and remain united in their love for their children.
"They kindly ask for privacy. There will be no further comment."
Colin and Livia tied the knot in 1997, after he split from Meg Tilly in 1994, with whom he had a son, Will, 29.
The duo met in 1996 on the set of BBC drama Nostromo.
He has two sons with Livia – Matteo, 16, and Luca, 18.
The family split their time between living in Chiswick, West London and Umbria, Italy.
Livia Giuggioli is an Italian film producer, specialising in documentaries.
Back in 2006, she founded Nana Productions alongside Colin, which produced her first flick In Prison My Whole Life in 2007.
Colin's son Luca plays in the punk band Wednesday, which has performed on the Hard Rock Stage at The Isle Of Wight Festival.
