After a bit of a hiatus at the end of 2019, BTS was set to come storming into 2020 with a new album, tours, appearances, and everything in between. Unfortunately, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic had other plans. Like everyone else, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, Jungkook, and V had to go into quarantine.
Still, the band members made sure to stay connected with their ARMY as much as possible. They released new music and snagged their first number one hit, “Dynamite” on the Billboard charts.
It also gave fans an opportunity to see just how far the guys have come since they first stepped onto the scene in 2013. In fact, though Jungkook was just 16 when BTS debuted, he’s mega-talent was so huge that he had seven labels fighting over him.
Jungkook is multitalented
It’s almost lucky that Jungkook chose to go into the music industry. He grew up in Busan a city on the south-east coast of South Korea before moving to Seoul to train with Big Hit. However, they don’t call him, the “Golden Maknae” of BTS for no reason.
In addition to singing and music, Jungkook also excels at drawing, martial arts, and filmmaking among a slew of other things. However, Jungkook was always drawn toward music.
He has often said that some of his biggest inspirations are Tori Kelly, IU, and Justin Bieber.
Jungkook originally joined Big Hit Entertainment as a dancer
As stated, Jungkook has much more up his sleeve than singing. In fact, after moving to Seoul he attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul (SOPA). Originally when he came aboard the Big Hit family, he trained as a dancer.
The management company sent him to LA where he trained for about aa month back in 2013 just before BTS was formed. Jungkook also revealed that during his downtime when he wasn’t training, he was able to get out and about to see some of what Hollywood had to offer.
Still, Big Hit was lucky to snap Jungkook when they did, in fact back in 2011 when he was just 14, he had at least seven different music labels fighting over him.
Jungkook had a ton of music labels fighting over him
Back in 2011, before BTS was even formed, Jungkook competed in the competition show Superstar K3. At age 14, Jungkook was still very green and unfortunately, he didn’t make it very far in the completion. However, Soompi reported that his audition was so powerful that it caught the attention of a slew of music executives.
During an appearance on the New Yang Nam Show in February 2017., Jungkook revealed, that he decided to go with Big Hitt, after speaking with RM, the first member of BTS that the company had signed. He remembered, “After appearing on the show, I received love calls from around seven different agencies.”
It looks like everything paid off. We’ve literally watched Jungkook grow up with the rest of the group before our eyes. To see his talent explode and the range of things BTS has been able to do is astounding.
