This is How Prince Harry's Life Will Change Once Prince William Becomes King

Prince William is second in the line of succession to the British throne and Prince Harry is currently sixth in line behind William’s three children. Therefore, even after Queen Elizabeth II is no longer with us and Prince Charles ascends the throne, it’s safe to assume that Harry won’t be king. However, his life will change when there is a new monarch.

Here’s more on what will change for the Duke of Sussex once his brother is king.

Harry will be given more royal duties

The amount of royal duties Harry will need to carry out is going to change even before William is crowned.

The moment Charles becomes king Harry will have more engagements on his plate.

“Deploying Prince Harry during Prince Charles’ reign will be crucial to the monarchy because he is key in re-energizing the Commonwealth,” a source told the Latin Times. “The Commonwealth will need more attention when Queen Elizabeth dies as more nations will choose to sever ties, and Prince Harry will be the one to take up the baton.”

Another source added, “Harry was also William’s spare for over 30 years and will continue to support his brother [and] father until George, Charlotte, and [Prince Louis] can take on royal duties. “

Meghan Markle will travel more and attend more functions

When his older brother is the monarch not only Harry but also his wife, Meghan Markle, will be traveling more for a number of different functions.

“The Duchess of Sussex will have an important role to develop, as one day she will be sister-in-law to the king,” former royal butler Grant Harrold told The Express. “She will take on duties on behalf of the monarch as we see the royals do today for the queen.”

As part of their new roles, William and Kate Middleton will host plenty of gatherings and dinner parties with numerous guests including some heads of state. Markle and Harry will be expected to attend those affairs and may even have to sit in at some banquets for William and Middleton if they are unable to make it.

Line of succession changes

Something else that will change when William takes the throne is Harry’s place in the line of succession. He will continue to move up the line as will his son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, until William’s kids begin to have children of their own. Then when that happens his sibling’s kids will move ahead of him.

That, however, is not something Harry is upset about as he said he believes the responsibilities of the top job are not something anyone really wants.

“We are involved in modernizing the British monarchy. We are not doing this for ourselves but for the greater good of the people,” the Duke of Sussex told Newsweek. “Is there anyone [in] the royal family who wants to be king or queen? I don’t think so, but we will carry out our duties at the right time.”
