DEAR DEIDRE: MY husband and I can’t have sex since he was circumcised, as it’s too painful for him to be touched.
He is 49 and he kept getting infections two years ago.
A surgeon said he needed all his foreskin removed.
He has been in pain ever since.
He is always anxious about needing the loo so we never go out socially.
Lockdown made no difference to us.
He saw a surgeon who told him further surgery would have to be done privately.
We cannot afford it.
I’m 46 and desperately worried.
He’s lost confidence and tells me I should go out and find myself a real man.

DEIDRE SAYS: It is not easy to be sure how much of the trauma your husband has suffered is purely psychological and how much due to the surgery.
He must tell his GP the physical and psychological impact, and get advice from 15square.org.uk who may be able to suggest after-care.
